There are few things more heartbreaking than watching a loved one struggle, especially when they seem to drift away from the light of the gospel. We pray for them, we counsel them, we try to surround them with goodness—and yet, at times, it may feel like our efforts aren’t making a difference.
But God sees your love. He hears your prayers. He knows the power of the doctrine of Jesus Christ. The scriptures remind us that the word of God is powerful beyond measure. In Alma 31:5, we learn that preaching the word has a greater impact on the hearts and minds of people than anything else. And we see this truth reflected in the lives of many throughout the Book of Mormon—Alma the Younger, the sons of Mosiah, and Enos. Each of them had a moment where they remembered the truths they had been taught, and that remembrance changed their lives.
The words of Christ, spoken in faith and love, will always leave an imprint. Even if the impact isn’t immediate, the truth remains in their hearts, ready to guide them when the time is right. Your efforts matter. Your love matters. So don’t give up. Keep teaching. Keep loving. Keep trusting in the Lord’s perfect timing.
