When I asked her why she had come, she said, "It is so good to know that when you support family, you are not alone. Look at all these people." she gestured as the door opened onto the lobby, where 3,000 attendees from all over the world had been milling through the day. "It gives me hope."

I recently spoke up about homosexuality because I noticed a phenomenon that was being silenced. I have been watching and listening to the dogma that all gays are “born that way” and that none of them has an alternative. I felt like the little boy in the Emperor’s New Clothes. Did everybody believe that all gays are alike, that there is no variation in etiology? That’s not what I saw in my practice as a therapist.
