From Jenny Oaks Baker:

I love this hymn!  As many of you know, it was written to be performed at the dedication of the Kirtland Temple in 1836.  The Kirtland Temple was the first temple built by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints–now there are 159 temples around the world.  And The Spirit of God has been sung at most if not all of the dedications of these temples. It is a truly glorious hymn.  I love this arrangement by Kurt Bestor that sweetly evokes the warmth and the light of the Holy Spirit.

This video comes from my upcoming album, The Spirit of God: Classic Hymns and Spirituals which released this past Friday.  I hope you all love this album as much as I do.  It is a musical tribute to the great faith that founded America.  I have long been inspired by the devotion of my Pioneer Ancestors and it was a joy to record music that hearkens back to these spiritual and musical roots.  The Spirit of God album was arranged and produced by Emmy Award Winning Composer Kurt Bestor, and we both really poured our hearts and souls  into creating this emotional music.  The album also features “Family Four” on two of the songs.

I am hopeful that my album, The Spirit of God will hit No. 1 on the Billboard Charts.  All of the album sales from March 30 through April 5 go towards this effort.  If you are considering purchasing this album, please do so before April 5.  And if you are still trying to find Easter gifts or  Mother’s Day gifts for the special loved ones in your life, this would make the perfect gift.  You can purchase The Spirit of God  on and at Deseret Book Stores.  It is also available on iTunes.
