Today sees the release of a new film version of Ben-Hur (read my full review). The Charlton Heston version, itself a remake, famously portrayed the story of a Jew betrayed into slavery whose path is altered by encounters with Jesus Christ. Modern audiences, jaded by Hollywood butchering’s of biblical tales in films such as Noah and Exodus: Gods and Kings, may be understandably skeptical of this latest offering. However, this latest Ben-Hur seems intent on telling a straightforward tale of Christian conversion, complete with reverent portrayal of The Savior. Take a look:
