Attempts to normalize homosexual deviance through the force of government mandate can have no effect on the real meaning of marriage. If our government mandates calling a dog's tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have? The Supreme Court already ruled that States have authority to pass laws regulating marriage. Now a few federal judges refuse to adjudicate accordingly. Utah is the test case. All Americans and free people from everywhere are watching to see the result of this controversy. There will be long-lasting implications of our support for traditional marriage.

Same sex marriage and abortion until the day of birth are part of the Democrat platform. 1/4 of LDS voters are Democrat. 1/4 of our LDS members support same sex marriage and abortion until the day of birth with their vote. This is horrifying.
Gerald CourtneyJanuary 18, 2014
We believe that Marriage between a man and a woman is God's commandment and the way He wants us to multiply and replenish the earth.
Laurel YoungJanuary 18, 2014
Call it something else, but DO NOT call it Marriage. God defines marriage as between a man and a woman. Anything else is NOT Marriage.
Ronald HoadleyJanuary 15, 2014
Traditional marriage has worked fine for Centuries. LEAVE IT ALONE. No one is preventing anyone from pursuing the lifestyle they prefer. Just stop trying to push it on everyone else to accept it. I do not agree with the lifestyle but that is their business. Marriage should remain between a Man and a Woman only.
PatriciaJanuary 15, 2014
God's institution of marriage is between a man and woman, stop trying to cram your liberal, and immoral views down our throats.
Diana lynn OpphileJanuary 14, 2014
As I've told my children, right is right and wrong is wrong. There's no two way's about it. Looking at China there race is fast on the road of being done if they keep killing all female babies. What's the difference? How did the court's get in to the picture. Family, Let us not destroy what God has joined together.
Lucile E SmithJanuary 14, 2014
Marriage between MAN AND WOMEN ONLY! Traditional Marriage.
Bruce PreeceJanuary 14, 2014
Let's see now. If the Liberals want abortion and same sex marriage then in a few generations there will be no liberals. Not a bad idea.
Donald EasterlinJanuary 14, 2014
Teach your children God's word. Don't let others corrupt them.
Kathryn CarbineJanuary 14, 2014
I agree. Marriage should only be defined as between a man and a woman, divinely appointed by God as outlined in the family proclamation. Thank you for the opportunity to sign, so refreshing to see the many comments of like minds!! :)
Loretta EaganJanuary 14, 2014
Marriage between one man and one woman is natural order. God's order
Matt ChalkerJanuary 13, 2014
We signed when we voted. That is legally binding
Mark LewisJanuary 13, 2014
Marriage, but it's very definition means the union of two different but complementary units. Trying to apply it to sameness can result in a type of union, but not a "marriage." That's why civil unions, if desired, make much more sense for gays. Heavenly Father has given us the answer to this issue.
Joyce RodebushJanuary 13, 2014
I am from Iowa and happily signed the petition. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Period!
Jenny wellingJanuary 13, 2014
I support traditional marriage between one man and one woman!
Katie B.January 13, 2014
I see this issue as a redefinition of marriage, not as a matter of civil rights. Our national and state laws govern the institution of marriage because of property laws and most especially because of the welfare of minors. The State of Utah has spoken about the DEFINITION of marriage via constitutional amendment. Does the state not have the right to amend its own constitution?
Robert EricksonJanuary 13, 2014
Time to pay attention to the constitution. The constitution lays out what the gov't can do. All else is for the states to determine. Need to put the gov't in it's place, how about Antartica?
Linda Ledesma SotoJanuary 13, 2014
Sign the Petition to Stand for Traditional Marriage, please. I'm not trying to judge anyone, but marriage is between man & woman.
Liz BrackenJanuary 13, 2014
I am signing in support of traditional marriage.
Fred BrightJanuary 13, 2014
I signed but did not see the petition so do not know what I signed? I trust you.
James HiattJanuary 13, 2014
Judge Robert Shelby should be held accountable for this decision. He knew the Supreme Court decided that states had the right to define marriage. He forced a rule that contradicted the Supreme Court decision. Our leaders in state government should not have allowed these same sex marriages to take place.
Gatha WilsonJanuary 13, 2014
I believe in traditional marriage. Gatha Wilson

I follow God's law.
Marion BloomquistJanuary 13, 2014
Thank you for making this petition available for us to sign to uphold the laws of God and the state of Utah in defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
Richard ColettiJanuary 13, 2014
Thanks
Catherine I WhittakerJanuary 13, 2014
Provisions have been made for equal legal rights in civil unions, partnerships, etc. But marriage has been naturally, traditionally, and legally define as the lawful union of a man and a woman, and sustained by the voice and vote of the majority of the people
Charles StrangeJanuary 13, 2014
Marriage should be between heterosexual couples only.
Catherine StrangeJanuary 13, 2014
I believe marriage is between a man and a women. Without this relationship we undermine the well being of even being able to have families. Children need the role model of both male and female in their lives as loving parents.
Nancy JudsonJanuary 13, 2014
Thank you for helping us have a voice
Lee R DansieJanuary 13, 2014
Marriage between 1 man and 1 woman.
EveJanuary 13, 2014
Do you have to be a citizen of Utah?
Katherine PotterJanuary 13, 2014
I totally believe what the Bible says and that marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman who are married through proper authority.
Bruce LakeJanuary 13, 2014
I stand for Traditional marriage as between one man and one woman.
Vivian Joy Pulley January 13, 2014
I am disappointed that a judge who was not elected by the people has sufficient power to overrule a state law that was voted by the people. Although I do not currently live in Utah, I have lived there for over 30 years and I plan to move back there to retire. With that in mind I hope Utah is successful in having their state laws upheld, for I strongly believe that marriage should only be between a man and a woman!
Brenda BradyJanuary 13, 2014
For the children.
Anne KnudsenJanuary 13, 2014
I wish to preserve the natural family unit, of man woman love and children that naturally come. I believe that babies do BEST with their mom and dad. I believe our society currently pays a HEAVY price for already REDEFINING marriage once before.. in making divorce easy, in promoting infidelity and premarital sex, in watering down and cheapening the amazing power and opportunity to create life... and then making abortions easy to get. What we oppose is not the happiness and freedom of gay people to be with who they choose, we oppose the gay community's efforts to "change the culture, rather than assimilate into the culture that already exists." They wish to change every "social, economic, legal, educational and religious institution that service and support marriage, family and children." That seems to be the end goal.
RonJanuary 13, 2014
Neither is the man without the woman; Neither is the woman without the man in the Lord.
Kirsten GrayJanuary 13, 2014
Marriage between a man and woman is sacred.

Roy HanoverJanuary 13, 2014
God meant for marriage to be between a man and woman!
Rhonda LaylanJanuary 13, 2014
I stand for traditional marriage
Susan GautierJanuary 13, 2014
Please do not make the mistake of thinking that all Utahns agree with the recent judgement regarding same sex marriage. I feel that marriage is between a woman and a man. Find a different solution for gay union.
Emma KimbroughJanuary 13, 2014
Please do not over rule the traditional marriage laws. Only by following the one man and one woman marriage can America stay strong, keep communities safe and children growing up to be good citizens and responsible individuals. .
Nanine YoungJanuary 13, 2014
I believe marriage is for man and woman only
Uncle FrankieJanuary 13, 2014
You don't have to be a Utah resident to sign, correct?
Bruce DeglerJanuary 13, 2014
Genderless marriage is not a civil rights issue, but a particular kind of moral issue. It scares me that we have judges who do not seem to understand that.
nancy s. andrewsJanuary 13, 2014
I'm currently serving a senior mission in Albania but am greatly disturbed by the tides that are turning in my country. I live in North Carolina where same-sex marriage was defeated by the voters 2 years ago but may be also subject to what happened in Utah. I guess it can happen anywhere people remain complacent or give up what their consciences truly know to be the better way..........
Sandra BlakleyJanuary 13, 2014
Truly what goes down in UT will tremendously affect how the rest of the nation goes. Opponents know this and thus are working hard to bring down traditional marriage here. We need to speak out and stand our ground or our children's children will suffer the consequences. Traditional marriage is the foundation and strength of America. Families are where values are taught. This battle is just one more effort by the enemy to destroy America.
Robert Wood and Katherine WoodJanuary 13, 2014
We believe in traditional marriage!
Atley ManolaJanuary 13, 2014
I believe in marriage.
Joshua SorensenJanuary 13, 2014
I do support marriage between a man and a woman, it is critical to our societies health and continuance.
Wendell MillerJanuary 13, 2014
I attended a rally for Senator Mike Lee a couple of months ago. The dozen of protestors got more coverage in the news media than the 2 thousand or so who supported Lee. It is tough getting through the media filter to get the word out as to how we feel about the legalization and recognition of sinful Homosexual relationships.
Beverly NeilsonJanuary 13, 2014
It is God's way!
Sandra ResekJanuary 13, 2014
I believe that marriage between a man and a woman is critical to the happiness and well-being of our nation.
Ray SaundersJanuary 13, 2014
Traditional marriage is God's law. Anything else will be an act to defy God.
Lynn ChattertonJanuary 13, 2014
Any other unions should have their appropriate names and definitions.
Jay H. BuckleyJanuary 13, 2014
I support the definition of marriage to be between one man and one woman. I urge our political leaders to consider the effects on society by changing or altering this definition.
Gary K. ColemanJanuary 13, 2014
Yes, I believe in marriage.
Colt FlittonJanuary 13, 2014

Sherry ParretJanuary 13, 2014
Marriage is an institution established by God between a man and a woman.
Ray and Jennifer SmithJanuary 13, 2014
This nation is slipping down the slippery slope so fast anyway, same sex marriage would propel us at rocket speed to our destruction.
Marilyn BorenJanuary 13, 2014
I agree with this petition.
Bev TelfordJanuary 13, 2014
It is imperative we sign up for traditional marriage. Anyone that believes in God must stand behind this!
Tyler PackJanuary 13, 2014
SIgned!
MattJanuary 13, 2014
We treat all people with kindness and respect but family is the foundation of society and we must safeguard marriage between a man and a woman and the need for a child to be raised in a home with a mother and a father in so far as is possible.
Eleanor L. McVeaJanuary 13, 2014
All Christians need to stand together to protect our rights.
MarLynn JamesJanuary 13, 2014
Participating in same sex behavior keeps one from achieving the ultimate goal that is available to men and women.
Lynda CoxJanuary 13, 2014
It is a violation of Utah's sovereignty for an appointed Federal judge to strike down a portion of Utah's constitution.
John B AndersonJanuary 13, 2014
Every day you have the ability to make Right Choices or say nothing and give implicit approval. Marriage between people is to give legitimacy to the children, it is ordained by God and recognized by man. The natural family consists of a Father (husband) a Mother (wife) and their child(ren) any other relationship is not a marriage. Marriage between a man and a woman was upheld by the Supreme Court in the 1800's as the law of the land. They did not feel a need to state Man and Woman because it was recognized as a natural law! Today those whom want to destroy the family started in the early 60's with a "war on poverty" and have continued to today with same sex marriage. There are indications that they will continue working on the destruction of the natural family until they have made the natural family seem unnatural. My Grandfather grew up in the Gay 90's (1890's. I placed the parentheses to ensure that somebody did not think he was homosexual.) See what has happened to the definition of the word GAY over the past 50 or so years. They are trying to make right wrong and wrong right. Unless we stand up and say no more we are backing them and the plan we originally refused to accept. The choice is yours!
Shannon WilliamsJanuary 13, 2014
I haven't protested the ruling because standing up for marriage is labeled as hate, but I am extremely saddened by and against the ruling.
Melanie FergusonJanuary 13, 2014
Our nation can not progress without the basic unit of society, the traditional family.
lewis williamsJanuary 13, 2014
the lord set up his plan on the traditional marriage one man and one woman
Bill and Janice PeacockJanuary 13, 2014
We were married in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1975. We can envision the next step for the "politically correct" assault on traditional marriage as demanding performing same sex marriages in the temple. We say no to that atrocious possibility and no way to that activist federal judge who started this mess.
Richard ChildersJanuary 13, 2014
Of course, this is the only proper way to have life. We are proud of Meridian Magazine for having this petition available for signature and pray that the courts do no longer go against the Bible

Joop ScholteJanuary 13, 2014
God instituted marriage between woman and man. Let no man change what God has instituted.
Cinndie HallJanuary 13, 2014
Yes, I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman and is critical to the well being of the nation.
Cherie Lynnae WhitakerJanuary 13, 2014
The church and state shall remain separate, so leave marriage, a sacred rite of the the church, and legalize all rights for civil unions! end this travesty in our nation.
Ann BagleyJanuary 13, 2014
Federal should not override State law. Constitution was designed to keep government out of our homes and to allow a free exercise of religion. God given laws always trump man made laws. Marriage is ordained of God. It is designed to create eternal families. Same sex marriages can not procreate, and are not the natural order of things.
Rod K. BrewerJanuary 13, 2014
Is it really about rights or beliefs? Why are the beliefs of secularist more valid? Why do same-sex couples really want marriage rights?
Andrea RasmussenJanuary 13, 2014
Man's law willl not change Gods law.
Edward G. BellistonJanuary 13, 2014
I support and stand for traditional marriage as being between a man and a woman and is central to the happiness and well-being of our nation, states, and communities!
Monday IyipJanuary 13, 2014
WHY DO MEN CREATED BY GOD WANT TO MAKE LEGAL WHAT THEIR CREATOR HAS MADE ILLEGAL?
Joshua WattsJanuary 13, 2014
Traditional marriage is the only marriage from which children can naturally be brought into the world. Whether you believe in evolution or God it should be obvious that the intended environment for children, the future of civilization, to be raised in is by a man and a woman committed to each other and their family.
