Good job, Mark. Thanks for telling those inspirational stories and for you and Elizabeth living as faithful saints.

I too was at the tabernacle the day the man in the south balcony began shouting what the author of this article stated. I believe I was 18 or 19 at the time. I was too late that day to be seated and was standing (with others) in the entryway of a door on the north side towards the west end of the Tabernacle. I can attest to the fact that Elder Monson glanced briefly towards the south balcony but never missed a beat in his tone or delivery. As the ushers converged on the disrupter I knew they would likely be bringing him out at the entry/exit point directly opposite me, on the south side of the Tabernacle. Being young, immature and a rubbernecker I trotted around to that south side just as they were carrying the man out. He was limp as a dish rag. No doubt his energy and adrenalin had been spent on his actions and perhaps exerting himself against the husky ushers. Elder Monson had remained calm, cool and collected. If readers have not yet read his biography it's a must-read. In reading his biography I realized he and I received our patriarchal blessings from the same individual and that was a fun bit of trivia to discover.

Thank you for the 'happy tears' and a wonderful way to start my day. As a Stake RS President, I know the load is heavy but the burden light when you stay close to the Lord. Pres Monson is one of the best examples ! Thank you for sharing.

Many years ago as a young girl I hold dear the memory of going to the Stake Center in Auckland, New Zealand with my parents. I sat with my family and listened to the speakers and I remember vividly our beloved Apostle speaking to us. I confess I don't remember much of the words he spoke but as a young girl and still today I remember his spirit and the Spirit of the Lord which was there bearing witness to us all. At the end of the Conference Session we waited as the speakers began to file out and I'll never forget the feeling I had and still have remembering when President Monson, an Apostle of the Lord bent down and took took my hand in his. When he moved on I remember looking at my parents and saying to them, "That man is very special"... Now everytime he talks or I read his words I have that same feeling and witness of the gospel and that he is indeed the Lord's Prophet here on earth today.

I did enjoy the story and had expected a more serious note but I think I enjoyed it more as it was a look at a human being who was called of God to do his duty as all the rest of us are. I always pray for him and his family and councelors. its just part of my prayers. I know that calling is daunting and not easy to bear. I do believe that God calls us to be His servants on earth and tommy monson is one who brings to my mind before he was a prophet how I enjoyed his talks during conference. thank you for sharing

I loved your stories and tribute to such a great man! I, too, have had a very special relationship with him. Just as a brief explanation, he was the apostle over the European area when I accompanied my parents, Winfield and Wanda Cannon, to the Frankfurt, Germany mission. We met up with him many more times and, recently, I wrote to him to thank him for his influence upon my children. I hadn't spoken to him since he spoke at my mother's funeral twenty years ago. I never expected a reply but it is framed on the wall in my home! I have never known anyone as loving, compassionate, selfless and in tune with the Spirit to act upon His promptings as he! Thanks again for your inspiring words!

What a warm and wonderful anecdote about a warm and wonderful man who coincidentaly happens to be a Prophet of our Heavenly Father. I envy you Brother Stoddard, for your experience. As I go out today to do my day's work, I will have a greater desire to try to be an example to the people that I meet, as a result of reading of this story about our Prophet. Thank you.
