Joni, thanks for your article, insight and advice. I have a similar problem about the birds—I have adored birds all my life and enjoy them in all their variety. And although my family has no cats of our own, all of our neighbors do and because we live in a mostly rural area, we end up with strays who are dropped off by thoughtless city dwellers. And all of them have an appetite for birds, as cats will, though we appreciate the ground rodent control they provide. However, I have had to give up attracting birds to our house and garden because the cats literally lie in wait for them—and so I often feel destitute for the sights and sounds of feathered creatures...and have to go hiking elsewhere to get my fix—though I also recently discovered some social media webpages that feature other peoples’ pictures of so many more species and settings in my state of Montana, so I am also thankful for that. And I can still see the higher flyers like hawks and geese and swallows who zoom through. Anyway, thanks for being a fellow cat dungeoned bird lover who is willing to share insights and the hopes that the Gospel brings.
