No fear of Paul writing a good article. Faith put to action is always the bottom line.

This reminds me of a story I read long ago about a girl, 4 or 5 years old, who, when interviewed by her church for baptism, answered one of their questions this way: When the devil would come knocking at the door of my heart, I wasn't strong enough to keep him out. But now, I send Jesus to the door, and He's strong enough!

We were victims of that earthquake, fortunately not severely. The wait until daylight was the longest ever. Then, forget food storage; we shared leftover brownies and whatever we could forage, as neighbors made contributions to our potluck breakfast. We surveyed our own property and assessed the homes of neighbors who were on vacation. The epicenter was just miles from us, but we sustained no serious damage. Just overnight, we learned of a relative who was trapped in an apartment fire, and fortunately, was rescued with no serious injuries. However, it will be a while before he is able to share his story and why he was unable to escape. We can only imagine his fear. One of the biggest fears I have faced was how to get answers and find resources to care for my elderly mother's medical and long-term care needs; then, eventually, her memorial. Life will throw us challenges, some greater than others. With faith, we can face them, sometimes setting new priorities or finding the need to overcome physical limitations, and continue making forward progress in our life journey.

The words of this article were shared with me today. They were the words I needed to hear about fear I've felt the last 24 hours. Thank you!

I am in both these places right now: “It knocks in the late-night worry over a struggling child. It knocks in seasons of financial hardship. . .” Thank you for the reminder of where to look.
