I remember Pilar (Pili) Espi' as a faithful young woman in Barcelona. I served a mission in Spain and primarily the Barcelona area and remember Pili and Merche and their mother Sister Espi' from when I served there from April 1971 to April 1973. What a beautiful family they were to us. With very few members of the church in Spain at that time, it was such a blessing to the missionaries to families like theirs. What a great story this is! Thanks for sharing....I hope to see Pilar and her family some day soon.

Thank you for sharing this letter. My son served in the Spain Madrid Mission from 2009-2011 and just loved it, and loved the people there. What wonderful growth there has been in the past 44 or so years!

Love this story. I was a brand-new convert myself when I went on a BYU Semester Abroad program in Madrid in 1972 and attended the branch there. Being so new myself, I really didn't realize until years later that the Church had just begun in Spain. I remember visiting a tiny branch with all our BYU students in southern Spain (Sevilla? Granada?) and how excited the elders were to see all of us walk in on Sunday morning! They had one or two investigators, but had been giving the talks and blessing the sacrament and presiding over the meetings all by themselves for some time. We were immediately pressed into service and gave talks and such. Spain is a beautiful country with wonderful people--I am so happy that the gospel has taken root there.

I feel so blessed to hear about Pilar's conversion and the Church in Spain. Her son John was one of my favorite Early Morning Seminary students his Freshman year. They are an amazing family and it has been over 15 years since I have had any contact with them. Thank you Pres. Albright & Johnny for this tender mercy! Athena Lloyd
