When the Savior, Jesus Christ said "Be ye there for perfect" He meant have a pure heart and prove we believe in him and love him by obeying his commandments perfectly while here in this mortality. Living up to every covenant we make in the temple perfectly. Yes we can attain perfection while in this mortality. Why would the Lord tell us in the scriptures That Adams son Seth was perfect while Seth was living in this mortality? There are far too many false interpretations going around in the church today. We need to be very careful to not think of the God of this world as an ordinary man in any way at all or to miss read and undermine His council. He created this world we live on. He is the son of God. We must be very care full to not teach false doctrine.

Thank you for a great article. I particularly love the third paragraph. My subconscious always knew perfection must be more achievable than it sounds. Elder Nelson's explanation confirms and clarifies. It also brings a sigh of relief to my soul.

Thank you for this timely reminder. We should also include versions of church history as not being perfect and even scripture as understood by ancient prophets does not always convey exact current scientific truths about our world. A firm testimony of Jesus Christ and God's word about true doctrine will not get shaken by these slight flaws. All the more reason to live to be worthy of the Holy Ghost in order to receive one's own confirmation of truth.
