We live in a world where everything accelerates, whether it be the best or the worst. We ain't see nothing yet when it comes to progress in medicine and technology, but the same applies to the so-called "new morality," which actually is the old immorality in disguise, and directly inspired from the "Father of Lies/Master of Deceit." The fight for truth and righteousness will therefore turn tougher, especially with a new generation that has been conditioned to accept the unacceptable, including within our own LDS community. But, let us always remember the Lord's admonition:"In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” John 16:33

Over sensationalised: oxford did not ban Christianity, they asked one small group to not attend an event. The Anglican Church is a powerful force at the university.

Thank you Maureen. I mentioned this on an LDS liberal online magazine a few months ago. I was called alt-right for doing so. It seems people have lost the ability to connect the dots. Now, how do we fight this craziness? I suggested demanding that all monuments to Martin Luther King (an adulterer), and John F. Kennedy (the same) and Bill Clinton (the same) be removed. Pick on the liberal heroes until people see how absurd this has become.

Our religious freedoms and our sacred history are being demolished one stroke at a time. And I believe, in anticipation of a coming day, Elder Cook recently pleaded for good people of all religious stripes to speak calmly, but forcefully in defense of the freedom to live our religious beliefs and to do so in a very public manner if we so choose. The straitjacket of politically and socially correct speech is being applied ever more energetically to Christianity in the United States and we best be aware.

We discussed this in FHE last night and compared it to the happenings in 3rd Nephi, as dissenters from the Nephites sought to replace their govenment with a king. How Satan stirred up their hearts to cause hate and divisions among the people. How they disregarded the law in a vain attempt to squelch Christianity. It strengthened our testimonies that the Book of Mormon was indeed written for our day.

While this would indeed be troubling if true, it appears to not be an accurate description of what is happening. Snopes has addressed it if you care to read more (and I'm assuming if you are interested enough to be reading these comments you are). Generally I find that when something like this sounds too crazy to be true it is worth doing additional research to confirm.

Brilliant article!! We all need to have the courage to speak truth, as Maureen did!! I especially liked the phrase, “most paranoid snake handler.”

We live in a crazy, over PC'd world. I sometimes wonder how many normal human beings still exist out there! Whatever happened to reality & commonsense?

We read articles like this one everyday in every forum we subscribe too. There are countless organizations that are informing us (the citizens) of these dangerous paths that our society is traveling on. Yet, we do nothing about it! Some 80% of the citizens claim to be Christian, yet they do nothing about these flagrant violations of our freedoms. When will we stop the verbalization and take action (in the form of denying these threats) . When will the Christian churches stand up and say I'm sorry this offends you, but it is our belief and we will not change it. When will we challenge the oft-spoken claim that it "offends me" and say sorry then you have the freedom to not attend. Yes, God's churches should be open to all, but not when they start dictating terms and conditions by which God'a church is run. This claim of not feeling safe is bogus. No christian church makes people feel unsafe- - - only those who "are offended" and do evil things like shooting up the congregation. We will definitely travel down this slippery sloped if we don't start doing something about it.

Concerning the Alexandria church,I agree with your concern that expunging all the less-than-perfect from history will leave us without a history. Not all history is painless. Obviously, those who disdain the slave-holding freedom fighter who was our first president do not understand the time in which he lived, a time that continued well after the constitution was drafted. That document would not have been ratified had there been a prohibition of slavery at the time. Concerning the Oxford ban on the Christian Union, mention was not made of bigotry, which is the reason that union was banned. Look up the word ;bigot' and you find that it is, to put it in first person, my dis-allowance of anyone who disagrees with me!

Very powerful and well said! We need to keep our eyes open, so we can truely see the intents and destruction... that certain decisions and laws “supposedly” under the guize for the betterment of “The people”. Only God the almighty can do that.

This really is terrifying. Thank you for writing this.

Excellent article!...I just shared it with many of my friends and relatives..... Thanks for all you do!

KristineNovember 6, 2017

Great article on how our religious freedoms and even our history is being slowest stripped away from us, without most of us even realizing it.

About 15 years ago I went with my daughter to her friend's baby baptism. The Church was full of young couples there to do the same. Most of these couples were unmarried and just there to make the grandparents happy. When the Priest was done blessing these numerous babies, he talked for a few minutes. One of the things he stated was that he feared that would be the last time he saw most of those couples until the funerals at one of their family members. I told my daughter to remember that day and that comment. These young people did not have a god in their life, and their children would know no god at all. I told her to remember that when the world started going crazy and godlessly would abound.

Where has common sense gone? Where are those who would stand and call this nonsense? Who will stand and defend our Constitutional Republic? Those of us who know better must stand strong!

Anne PrattNovember 6, 2017

BRILLIANT! Maurine! Thanks for this well-written article. What a time we live in!
