When we take the time to get to know our sisters we find that we really do care about them.

This article made me appreciate our Home and Visiting Teaching program even more. When my mother, not a member of the church, went into the nursing home, I saw her every day, but no one else came. Her minister came twice in nine months, but only after we asked him to. I told him later I was disappointed he had not come more often, because people in my mother's position need extra spiritual reinforcement. He said he didn't have time to visit every one in his church. I told him about our visiting program. He said, that sounded great, but he would never be able to get people to do it. I realized later that his members would expect payment for their service, and that, of course, was not doable. I shared as much of my beliefs with my mom as I could, but family members, who never came to see her, warned me not to. So you see, I know that Home and Visiting teaching are part of God's Plan of Happiness, and that His plan is designed to help all of us, no matter what situation or how old we are. Now if we could only get more of our members to do it.

WOW, what an awesome poem! Anyone who has had a parent in a care center can relate. This is a TRUE visiting teacher. Thank you. Bev
