Thanks for the excellent article. Thanks for listing the individuals by name who were senselessly murdered, they are people and should be remembered. We must act against evil, if not now, when? If not each one of us, than who? I believe that we can stand up against evil if we have faith that Gods plan is eternal and whether we live or die is not nearly as important as what we do with the time we have. We must speak the truth, as this article does, and bring evil out into the light. The Truth will set us free from fear, until the Savior comes again when we will be set free from all evil.

One correction: these are not "senseless, irrational" terrorists. Articles in The Atlantic, the New York Review of Books, and other reputable sources point out that ISIS has a clear strategy based on an ideology we do not understand, but that is coherent to them. Just because we don't subscribe to it does not mean that it's irrational. The more we study the desires and intentions of these terrorists the better prepared we can be to fight against them. And we must.

One statement made "They have oil money to draw on." is important. We have some important people indicating we should be sending troops to fight this. I don't know the wisdom of that. It simply does not make sense if we are not taking steps to maximize use of our own oil instead of sending our petrodollars to a region of the world that appears to be severely troubled by nature.

What about the plan to bring the refugees here?

Yes the world is changing for the worst . The morning news seems to always have another bad story, and mostly about our children and grand children. We all seem to have them. Yes there are terrorists all around us planning and waiting for their turn to try out a new bomb or waiting for a crowd to come so what they are planning will have maximum effect. I keep wondering what our political system is waiting on. I keep wondering why there are horror stories in our own ranks from those who have the power to change things in our favor right here at home. Never mind the horror stories coming from abroad. I am referring to the horror stories coming from the IRS or from the White-house, and from those irrational stories in the highest areas of law enforcement in the land. We cannot control these things from within our own borders. Horror stories and terrorist stories abound and we are seemingly helpless. Lies and secret combinations are everywhere. I know very well they are not humorous but one has to see beyond what hurts and look for the causes so we have a chance to try to keep these things from happening at all. I told my wife in looking at terrorists, one only has to take a long look at there Credit Report occasionally. We are not alone in this world but we are expected to do our part. ARE WE DOING IT,I think not. Tom

Thank you . I just finished morning prayer, asking for the courage to speak out in a good way, and for the wisdom to be able to write to children and grandchildren with inspiration on this very topic. Thank you again. You don't have to publish this comment, but you may if you like. I simply needed a way to commend someone who has a keen vision, courage rooted in truth and faith, and the ability to write. We have wished for a way to make a difference. Those who came before us did.

You've done A great job characterizing the feelings we all shared in the Washington DC area during those horrific and senseless killings. The best protection temporally was the vigilant Eyes of all people looking for anything suspicious. It was a pair of eyes that discovered the sniper parked at a truck stop I believe. What I would add to your article is to give people hope in their faith in Jesus Christ and their mission on the earth. If we are faithful we will not be called home any earlier than what's already been agreed to from on high. In the gospel there is safety. It is being introduced and war-torn countries even today. We must not only be courageous and fighting terrorism, we must continue to be courageous in making the world a better place to live and accelerate our efforts to spread the gospel. Love Vinny

My native country was terrorized by Shining Path terrorist organization. No body came to help our country; hundred of thousands people lost their lives. We were attack, day and night. My uncle who was a doctor was taken blind folded to a place where he was forced to help the terrorists. My brother was a police officer, his office was blown up, for a miracle that day his girl friend came to take him out for lunch, or else he would have been death. We should not allowed people from the middle east to come to our country. I believe that the Cuban refugees who entered to my Peru as refugees brought the ideas of socialism and communism and pushed those ideas to naive students. Many of the leaders were Peruvians who were trained in Russia and in Cuba. Terror will bring to America in its knees. We will need a STRONG LEADER to defeat them. I don't think we have that leader among us.

This is a touching reminder of how dominating some historical events can be at the time and yet how quickly they can slide into forgotten past and forgotten lessons along with them. But as we recall those horrible tragedies, we should also recall the strength of America that lies in our willingness to move on and live life the best way we can without limiting our good works by a fear that similar tragedies may lurk just around the corner for us.
