I was inactive my whole adult life . I read of President Hinckley's call to read the Book of Mormon; I was inspired to do so. My life changed. I have been an active member since and enjoying the blessings of a converted life.

When we were asked to read the Book of Morman by Pres. Hinkley the Harry Potter books hit the stores and people were lined up to get a copy just in time to compete.

"We live in a day when sophisticated electronic surveillance devices offer early warning of impending dangers. Satellites circle the globe watching for activity of any kind that might indicate peril to our nation. Car computers monitor systems. Airliners have redundant relays to track safety in the air. When something unexpected happens that might imply trouble, alarms sound and people become busy finding out what is happening and what can be done." I liked your observation, and to me, it reminds me of king Noah and the purposes for which he built his tower(s). One of which was built beside the temple. He wanted to watch over his kingdom, to constantly seek for the enemies without. King Benjamin also built a tower beside the temple in Zarahemla. But the purposes were far different. His purposes were to call us to watch for the enemies within our own hearts, and to draw us closer to our temple covenants, to our one, true, protector: even Christ. Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful article. I always appreciate the care you give to your topics. ^_^

Brilliant article - what a great way to rethink our study of the Book of Mormon and how much more we should be "picking" it up and not letting it out of our hands until we have actually read, pondered and prayed about it. I am going to enjoy doing this even more after reading this article. Many thanks

I have read the book of Mormon about 3 times I think....I'm rereading it now...I decided to make a priority of reading my scriptures...all my scriptures....I just got through reading the bible old and new testament from stem to stern ...I loved it and especially the new testament like I have never enjoyed it before. I am now in 2nd nephi and am so enjoying it and learning more detail. I find as I read over and over..I see new things...I wasn't raised in the church and was raised a catholic who never read the bible. so the bible was a mystery to me and when I first read it after marrying I was amazed. so I read all my scriptures...the bible the book of Mormon and the doctrine and covenants and pearl of great price and when I'm done....actually I'm never done.I just keep reading ...I love it too much to stop. I have learned to keep this as part of my routine for going to bed at night, to say my prayers and read my scriptures and then read my ensign. a story or article a night every nite.
