What do so many Latter Day Saints try and second guess the Leaders of the Church. I see where some say they support the Prophet 100%, if we do, then don't worry about the decisions they just made. It will all work out ... just follow their lead.

I support Church Leadership 100%. As a local leader in a state other than Utah, we are having a fight continually with the Non-LDS BSA leadership. I was disappointed that the church is staying with the BSA. I know in our area, members are fed-up with the politics and beuracracy of the BSA. Friends of Scouting drives have been very hard in recent years and now, I fear, will be unbearable.

I sustain the prophets 100%, but I really don’t understand why the Church continues to support this ridiculous organization. I’d like to see us redirect the millions of dollars per year spent on badges and camps and whatever, put it into building a truly great Youth program for Young Men and Women alike.

HRC states "Discrimination should have no place in the Boy Scouts, period.” Isn't forcing an organization (i.e. LDS Church) to adopt something against their basic creed, "discrimination" as well? When these organizations insist that everyone cower to their rules, isn't that a form of discrimination? Or perhaps even better, may it be a form of tyranny. Everyone must believe as I believe or suffer the consequences. There is no room for individualism. I think that is the worst form of discrimination.

Since the announcement, I have been wondering about their decision. Obviously, with Elder Cook as an apostle, he would be aware of the possible dangers that you have already written about. I, also, wonder how long it will last.
Anyone in our church who fits those categories, usually tries to overcome them, so there would be less danger.
I also had another thought. Possibly, if we can successfully stay in the program, boys from other faiths will join our groups to escape the problems they will face. Just a few thoughts.

"And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." 2 Kgs 6:16. I am naïve enough to really believe that. Evil can't win when there are so many believers who believe in prayer to an all-powerful God.

Church leadership does not panic regardless of what happens. They are still in a position where they are not compelled to let homosexuals be troop leaders. I would imagine that perhaps the LDS Church might not participate in large regional or national gatherings where there would be troops that have gay leaders. This move allows the Church to begin to plan for the eventual breakaway...maybe 5-10 years from now. The Church doesn't need they Boy Scouts.....they need us!
