Why do people think that life is going to be fair? It never has been nor will it ever be. Lawyers and politicians and other evil individuals have connived to destroy the constitution and the very laws that made this country great. Ever read 2nd Timothy? It says that in the last days wrong will be thought of as right and right will be thought of as wrong; good will be evil and evil will be acceptable. It is lamentable what happened to this family, and I am sure that God is aware of it and is watching over them. But to expect redress from a system controlled by the adversary is ludicrous. Until the 86% start to stand up for truth and justice there will never be a change and things will only get worse. We need to stop kowtowing to the 14% who admit to their atheism and get back to the basic tenets that the founding fathers put in the constitution and the bill of rights and return to the worship of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, not Satan. After all, don't we believe that that document was inspired? Get off your backsides people and do something other than dream of your mansions on high and tsk tsking the evil one.

The fine was indeed levied against them. We do believe in obeying the law but we also know that in these last days the voice of the people can choose iniquity (Mosiah 29:27) I just now made a small donation to Samaratins Purse in their behalf and hope that a few thousand more will do the same so that this ridiculous and unrighteous fine can be paid. Satan is indeed roaring and laughing at how blindly people are buying into wrong thinking and the misuse of our agency.

Since when did the government become part owner in her business? They have no constitutional right to fine her. There are other crowd sourcing sites, I'm sure another account can be set up. I'd like to see people help this business out and help enough for them to hire a lawyer to fight this ridiculous fine!!

Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse is collecting funds to help this bakery since Gofundme will not. If you would like to donate, here is the link: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/article/christian-couple-faces-135000-fine/

When Melissa and Aaron opened their business to the public, I presume it was to give product/service in exchange for payment. To have refused product/service for two brides' to me speaks "my beliefs are better than yours" or "I am better in God's eyes than you are." What has become of kindness? or loving your neighbor as yourself? Very sad consequences of unrighteous judgement of neighbors. I wish in the secular world there could be more agreeing to disagree, setting an example with love, and just being kind. Probably you won't post this.

How about if we put this another way. Why are not gay couples asking a bakery who is owned by Muslims, to bake their cake for a wedding? Not supporting gay weddings by Christians are another way to attack Christians for the way they believe.

JemezblueApril 28, 2015

Why would anyone not want those people in their weddings who stand behind them and support them? If someone, anyone, does not support my wedding, I would not want that person or persons at my wedding...They might disrupt my ceremony.

I don't agree with the huge fines, but I do believe that if you want to go into a public business, you have to be willing to serve the general public, regardless of whether you approve of their lifestyle, as long as what they are doing is not against the law.

There is now an account for the bakers through the website Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham), so if anybody wants to donate, they can do so there.

To make this even worse is that GoFundMe, the website people can use to raise money for a verity of causes, canceled the GoFundMe account to raise money for this Baker that lost her business. Why you might ask? Apparently, GofundMe has a policy that restricts fundraising for legal cases involving the "defense of formal charges of heinous crimes, including violent, hateful, or sexual acts." Let me guess this straight, this baker, who did nothing more than "exercise" her right to practice her religion, is considered to be in the same catagory with those that commit violent and sexual crimes? I am speechless.

I agree with Melissa & Aaron. Other businesses can refuse to serve potential clients. Why should vendors such as this be made to pay fines if they refuse to serve. We had a photography business & we have closed our business in part because of not wanting to be made to have customers that we don't want. Whether they are same sex marriages or anything else that we don't want to have a business relationship with. I am sorry the Kleins have had to close their business & now their family is made to suffer. What about their pain & suffering? Do they get paid for that?? Of course not!

Lori RApril 28, 2015

I support the decision of this bakery 100%. They should not be forced to participate in something they don't believe in. What happened to the God given American rights of this wonderful business. A fine of any amount is unconstitutional. America and law makers need to quit focusing on being politically correct.

Latter-day Saints are told to obey the law in the 11th Article of Faith. Why didn't this lady follow the law?

Two wrongs doesn't make a right...
