Laura, as this post is about Truth can you provide a reference for "Jesus Christ promised the First Presidency of the church will never lead us astray." As far as I am aware it was first said by Pres. Wilford Woodruff, October 1890, after the announcement that polygamy would no longer be practiced by Latter-day Saints

It is true that some of the elect will be decieved. Not all the elect. Jesus Christ promised the First Presidency of the church will never lead us astray...they will not be deceived because they will prepare. Everybody will need to prepare in order to avoid being deceived, not just the elect. I think the intent of that scripture is to warn that Satan will use deception so well in the last days that even some of the most righteous will not see through Satan's lies. Overall, great article!

Thank you for this! It's so helpful to step away from our biases and try to be balanced. I love the emphasis on seeking truth as something that requires WORK--it doesn't just automatically happen.

no, it doesn't say the very elect will be, but were it possible, they would be. It is not possible in God's justice for the very elect to be deceived. Read your scriptures again. Check it out. That's why the elect need to be prepared. Enjoy
