Note D&C 103:17: "...lead by a stretched out arm."

I have been studying this style of prophecy for the last year as I have read the Book of Mormon, It isn't just Abinadi who uses this gesture, but Amulek in Alma 10:25 uses the gesture, it is mentioned in in 2 Ne.20:24 when the Lord says his hand is stretched out still. Christ also uses the same gesture in 3rd Ne. I think it is definitely a prophetic style, but more than that, it is the giving of a gift from the Lord through His prophet to His people whether it is as a warning. doctrine, or a prophecy.
