ALICE: I have good news for you! A whole food, plant-based diet is the world's best diet for diabetes, bar none. Please don't confuse this with the average vegan diet, which can be quite unhealthy! If you follow a strict whole food, plant-based diet you can hope to resolve diabetes completely. I encourage you to get this book: Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes without Drugs. If you can't get the book, feel free to contact me for some free information from whole food, plant-based experts: https://discoveringthewordofwisdom.com/contact-me/

. I am diabetic I mostly eat a plant based diet but when I cut out animal food my blood sugar goes up. One time for 17 weeks I limited animal food to 2 or 3 oz a week eating it just once. I loved all the plant based food. I did take it easy on the grain only one to two servings a day, one or two of fruit as well. The bulk of what I eat was veggies and beans. My A1C went up 3 points I was shocked. I then added 3oz of meat or eggs at every meal with some good fat and within days my blood sugar dropped 100 points. Plant based protein does not do it for me so I eat mostly plants with 3oz of animal protein with each meal. I would love to follow this suggested video but for me it is different.Honestly I would be a vegan if it worked for me but it just does not.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about the video! I appreciate all of you. KATHY: Thanks for your great question. Refined carbohydrates spike the blood sugar too high only in the context of a poor diet. When you eat a whole food, plant-based diet, your body responds GREAT to carbohydrates, even though they are up to 80% of the diet. Studies show increasing carbohydrates actually controls diabetes if they are whole grains, fruits and veggies! All large, healthy populations throughout history ate a high carbohydrate diet with little incidence of diabetes. Our ancestors almost all ate a high carbohydrate diet with little incidence of diabetes. Asians typically ate a very high carbohydrate diet with very little diabetes, until just recently when they added much more animal food and processed food to their diets, and the diabetes has skyrocketed. Our Heavenly Father definitely understands our bodies and how to keep them healthy, and we can trust His wisdom. Stick with wholesome (not refined) plants, whole grains, and meat sparingly, only in times of need. I recommend this short video: https://nutritionfacts.org/video/what-causes-insulin-resistance/. I also recommend this book: Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes without Drugs.

Well done video! It is a puzzle to me that there is so much scientific evidence to support the findings that grains (including wheat) and most fruits raise blood sugar which leads to insulin resistance which then leads to type 2 diabetes, obesity, and most other chronic diseases. My blood sugar, insulin, and H1c numbers all improved when I eliminated grains and high-glycemic fruits from my diet. I really struggle to reconcile the evidence and my own experience with the counsel from the Lord that all grains, especially wheat, were made for man to be the staff of life. It seems unless one is really physically active, like athletes and farmers, that one's body cannot utilize the carbs efficiently from grains and fruits and those carbs wreak havoc in the body. Any thoughts?

Wonderful! One can never go wrong following the words of the prophets. Our favorite quote though is, "You cannot love your food more than I love my food!" My husband and I couldn't agree more. Our food is fabulous and guilt-free and our health and vigor are better than ever!
