Did you know that the Church owns one of the largest cattle ranches in the U.S.?

I agree with Susan. The Apostles of our church eat meat, dairy and eggs and I'm sure they are following the Word of Wisdom. It is not healthy to totally eliminate two food groups. It bothers me when Vegans preach their food choices like it is a religion. It makes many people uncomfortable.

There are things about this reasoning that I do not understand. If we can't be sure of what the Paleolithic peoples ate then how can we be so sure that their ancestors were vegetarian (as proposed here)? It is also suggested that our teeth indicate we should be herbivores, but what about our digestive tracts that are way shorter than those of herbivores, or the proportionately large size of our brain in relation to our body, unlike any herbivorous animal. This article is like a time warp back into the 1980's and 90's, when we still believed cholesterol was relavent to heart health - a hypothesis that has never been proven despite gobs of $ thrown into providing evidence. And let's forget "organic" meat and go as far as saying "biodynamically raised" animal foods are what mods of conscience are calling for...where the animals are part of a diverse ecology and where their activities help maintain the soil rather than deplete and poison it. Every small farmer knows animals are an asset to the land. We obviously have lost touch with "wisdom" and embraced what the people with funding and corporate sponsorship want us to believe. Let's bring back balance, prudence and moderation to our discussion of the Word of Wisdom.

This series reads like you are a vegan and are using the Word of Wisdom to promote your own agenda.

Thank you for all of this!

I think you misread D&C 89 :13(. Should not be used only in times,) You forgot the word not it gives a different meaning . That the Times mention is when the lack of plant and grains and seeds is not plentiful at ththose times we can eat more of the meat as a staple other than that it should be eaten sparingly.
