I, too, have experienced the truth "the ground never forgets" at Carthage Jail. I believe I was born with the 'gift to know.' And yet, whiile visiting there once, I was so overcome with a power so great that I could not speak literally for hours. The ground confessed to my soul that a Prophet of God, and his brother, Hyrum, were slain there. It was so powerful and sacred, that I did not know just what to do with that experience. Even my husband who was with me wondered for hours what had happened to me. Years later, on another visit to Carthage Jail, I witnessed the very same experience happen to someone else who was visiting that sacred ground. I have no doubt that for whatever reasons, those kind of witnesses are given. And I don't know why me, but I will be forever grateful that I was one who received it!

A remarkable testimony by a fellow adult convert who has been anxiously engaged in discovering and embracing those meaningful events that shore up eternal beliefs. Continued thanks to a gifted author.

I knew the history of Nauvoo, illinois and Carthage jail but I have not been the same since I stood on the ground where Joseph, and so many others, lived and died. I felt their hope and joy. I heard their laughter and cries. I felt their heartache when they had to move Westward, leaving their beloved Nauvoo behind. Until reading these powerful words, I could not express what had happened to me on that sacred ground. Because the ground remembers, I am forever changed. Thank you.
