Funny Thing About Love is indeed funny with known funny guys Jason Gray (Studio C), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), and Kevin Moezzi (standup comedian) leading the way in that department but don’t count Brooke White (American Idol) out of this stellar boys’ club of comedy, her comedic timing and line delivery doesn’t go unnoticed in this very enjoyable and satisfying romantic comedy.    

Summer Bellessa (Samantha) is cast in a more dramatic turn amidst all of the comedy showing just how good of an actress she is, kind of like Bud Abbott to Lou Costello in the 1950’s.

Funny Thing About Love tells the story of Samantha Banks (Bellessa) who runs a highly successful business and her lawyer fiancé Bryce (Jason Gray) going to her family home for the Thanksgiving Holiday only to find out that the family has invited her ex-boyfriend Luke (Kevin Moezzi) to perhaps rekindle the relationship that got away.

This is a fun watch with so many different and diverse characters like you would find at most family gatherings but in the case of this movie one supporting character truly steals the show with what I thought was the most memorable scenes when Grandpa Joe (Barry Corbin) goes on to defend the Detroit Lions and his beloved hero Byron “Whizzer” White in a bit of comedic brilliance with many of the characters and an extremely oversized chair taking part in the zaniness of this really well done rant that ends up putting Bryce in the doghouse.

Having Jon Heder (Charlie) join this cast was pure genius because he has the unique ability to make you laugh even when he is not trying and for the filmmakers that’s exactly what they want when producing a comedy.

A Hallmark-style romantic comedy, Funny Thing About Love is full of uncomfortable encounters, pure comedy including an exploding turkey, and of course romantic love all crafted together brilliantly in a screenplay by Writer/Director Adam White (Inspired Guns).

White definitely understands comedy and how to get the best from his cast as they deliver their lines almost flawlessly creating many moments of out loud laughter.

The cinematography is crisp and vivid along with the production design and costume design bringing in many gorgeous fall colors that give this movie a comfortable and cozy feeling just like being at home for Thanksgiving should feel like.
