I disagree with Pam. The video is not demeaning and accusatory. It simply states facts about what the Illinois school curriculum is and what it seeks to achieve. What is demeaning is the assumption that everyone who is white is racist. It is demeaning to be judged by someone to be racist because of my skin color. The fact that this type of indoctrination is acceptable in the most racially fair country on earth is demeaning. I do not accept the idea that I have held racist attitudes. I have always tried to live the gospel of Jesus Christ wherein I treat people with respect and kindness no matter what their skin color. If I have fallen short it is not intentionally. I will continue to do my best to live as Jesus Christ taught. The school curriculum described in this video does not allow people to do this.

I would suggest anyone who watches this reread President's Oaks conference talk Oct 2020: Just a portion: "In public actions and in our personal attitudes, we have had racism and related grievances... “racism thrives on hatred, oppression, collusion, passivity, indifference and silence.” As citizens and as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we must do better to help root out racism." Please notice the words "indifference and silence". As Latter-day Saints, we cannot remain indifferent or silent on this issue - this applies to schools. President Oaks has asked us to "do better" We need to do everything we can to change the climate of racism that exists in our country. If the way they are going about it in your school, then bring influence for good and follow the counsel of President Oaks and President Nelson. They spoke boldy to us about what we need to be doing as members of the church - LOVE and RESPECT for everyone came out clear and strong. We need to model that in our words and actions. This video does not reflect this attitude. Instead of giving suggestions for accomplishing what has been asked of us, it is very accusatory and demeaning.
