Sites for Temples in Indonesia and Japan
The following is excerpted from the Church Newsroom.
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the locations of new houses of the Lord in Indonesia and Japan. An artistic rendering of the Budapest Hungary Temple is also available.
Jakarta Indonesia Temple
The Jakarta Indonesia Temple will be built on a 1.33-acre site located at Synthesis Square, Jalan Gatot, Subroto No. 177a, Tebet District, City of South Jakarta, Special Capital Region of Jakarta.
Plans call for a four-story temple of approximately 40,350 square feet. Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this house of the Lord during the Church’s general conference in April 2023.
“Making covenants and receiving essential ordinances in the temple, as well as seeking to draw closer to Him there, will bless your life in ways no other kind of worship can,” President Nelson said before announcing Indonesia’s first temple. “For this reason, we are doing all within our power to make the blessings of the temple more accessible to our members around the world.”
The Republic of Indonesia, located in Southeast Asia, is currently home to more than 7,600 members in 24 congregations. The first congregation was organized in 1970 and soon after, the Church was officially recognized. In 1975, the first mission was established in Jakarta and in 1977 the Book of Mormon was published in Indonesian.
Osaka Japan Temple
The Osaka Japan Temple will be built on a 16.74-acre site located at 3-50-1 Sugi, Hirakata City, Osaka, 573-0117 Japan.

With its site officially announced five months ago, the Budapest Hungary Temple now has a set exterior appearance as it continues in its planning phase.
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the exterior rendering for what will be the first house of the Lord in the central European nation of Hungary, located in the capital city of Budapest.
The rendering was first published Monday, March 4, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
The temple’s general size and dimensions — projected as a single-story building of approximately 18,000 square feet — were first announced with the Oct. 9, 2023, release of the temple’s site location.
