The Deseret News reported:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement Tuesday saying it believes “everyone is entitled to respect” and that “all people should expect an environment of safety, dignity, and privacy in settings such as restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, etc.” church spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a statement Tuesday.
“We believe reasonable solutions can usually be found when people of goodwill come together to find answers. We encourage public officials to create and administer laws and regulations that properly balance (these) … issues,” Hawkins said.
The situation is “difficult and sensitive,” Hawkins said, and encouraged church members to be prayerful and loving toward anyone struggling to live within doctrine.

I wish our State and local officials (and candidates) would take the same thoughtful, conciliatory tone about this issue which the Brethren take. The politicians seem willing to sacrifice civility for rabid polemics.
