I loved the Packs and they were our neighbors for many years on Laie Point!! Your grandmother Alice would be crocheting, watching tv and studying a lesson all at the same time. My dad was also called as a labor missionary in 1961 his name was Heber Thompson. Laie is a beautiful place with so many special places to see and things to do.

Thank you for this lovely article. In the late 50's my grandfather, Paul Pack, was called on a work mission to landscape the Polynesian Cultural Center. The coconut tree that curves over the lagoon was found and placed by him. They fell in love with Laie where my grandmother, Alice Pack went on to become Dr. Alice Pack, developer/teacher of the TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) program at the Church College of Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii.) My parents married in the Hawaiian temple, and more.... Much Aloha.
