while in college when I was about 41yrs of age, I was studying English literature and there was a chapter about the bible. It spoke of how it was chained to the altar and only the priests could read it. one section spoke of a time about when joseph smith was alive stating that there was mass confusion as to the different religions in England and in the united states. it was described as a flurry of different protestant religions each claiming to be the true church on the earth. I was suprized when this was brought out and I smiled in realization that I already knew this because I was a member of the church.
