Ditto other comments. I love that series of articles. I want to say though: A person's characteristics in relation to patience include matters of communication within the family; spouse to spouse, etc. This translates to listening, and some can be absolutely poor listeners, while the same person may be extremely wordy themselves. So I am not talking about lengthy communication not being listened to; I am talking about an impatient person interrupting after three or so words; it leads to a world of misunderstood facts, intentions, feelings, and plans. My purpose is to say that patience and impatience have an immensely broad implication and effect, not just with the Lord, but in family matters.

This is the first essay on Patience that I have read which satisfactorily answered my lingering questions and confusion as to why we need to learn the trait of "patience," and why the Lord continually puts us into situations where we need to submit to patience in order to get through the trial. I have never directly reflected patience back onto Heavenly Father, and how patient He has needed to be with his children throughout the millennia of our existence. You are right: if the Lord himself had not perfected the trait of being patient, He would have given up on me years ago! Thank you for such an eloquent and thoughtful essay on the "why" and "how" of learning patience, and the many wonderful scriptural references that illustrate this process. I also appreciated the reminder to not get frustrated or feel that the Lord has forsaken me when I see others around me committing sins, justifying their behaviors, and prospering in wealth and success while I have gone through repeated cycles of poverty and rejection while doing my best to be obedient to my temple covenants. Having patience is extremely difficult in those circumstances!

What an inspiring article, every word is perfect. Thank you for so many scriptures to go to and enjoy on the subject. You have such a talent for writing. I always read your articles because I know I will be uplifted by your words. This lets me see I need to work on this constantly so I can be more like Jesus Christ who is my perfect example to follow. One time a Visiting Teacher gave her sisters a challenge to see how many days we could go being as much like the Savior as possible, I went three days and I feel so good about that but wouldn't it have been grand if it had been up to today that I made it?
