Another beautiful, open article from Kimberly. This article really hits home for me and I am grateful for reading this. The Atonement is very personal in its application and this article helps me see that. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful article with great insight but the bottom line to why there needs to be an atonement is law. Our Heavenly Father is a god of law and order and he would cease to be god if he were not. Law is broken and a price needs to be paid and our Savior paid the price. The atonement was done out of love but it was accomplished through perfect obedience, something we mortals are incapable of doing no matter how great our love may be for Heavenly Father and his son or for each other. You love your daughter, she loves you but you both fell short in the example you shared, for different reasons and different levels of understanding obviously but our Savior covers it all.

What incredible insights. My heart thanks you. It seems like, to me, that no matter how much I have repented and asked for forgiveness for my sins, that the consequences of my behavior just keep coming. Generational consequences. I will pray specifically that the healing balm of the Atonement of Jesus Christ will touch those affected.

This understanding of the Atonement is one of the best I have read. Jesus didn’t suffer for our weaknesses, pain, sorrow…if of our own doing, or that which we did to others, or them to us… but He suffers with us, healing us and them. Thank you for such great insights.
