Eating disorders are genetic, metabolic, and neurobiological and not a choice, a sin, or a conscious decision. They happen when the person with the genetics for it enters a negative energy balance. The above information is well-meaning ans will not help cure eating disorders or even prevent them, although it is really important we all understand out divine nature and value.

There are lots of different ways that people can struggle to love their bodies. My wife for example struggles with several autoimmune conditions that cause her body to be very sensitive to outside stimuli from food, temperature, even exercise. Each one basically creates an allergic reaction. This has made it almost impossible for her to lose weight and for us to continue our family. We have tried to get help from doctors in the past but no longer trust them and cannot afford to continue searching so we do the best we can on our own but she is at a low point and I wish I knew how to help her more
