Martha has been a beloved member of our ward for years, and each of us felt individually loved by her. She did indeed make people her business. If we went to visit her, she focused her full attention on us. She was always interested in what was going on around her. I recently found some pictures of families from the ward we lived in while we were in Indiana those many years ago. I was a very young child at that time, but I have known that Martha and I shared that time. After scanning the pictures and posting them on FamilySearch for various families to enjoy, I took the pictures to Martha, who expressed great pleasure in seeing these pictures of wonderful friends and families.

I was a young mother in the Rolla Ward who benefited from Martha's love and wisdom. She was always willing to help in any way. Our friendship lasted through all those years. We last visited her in her home on her 99th birthday last year. We were saddened by her death, but rejoice that we had the opportunity to be a part of her life. God bless you and all the family.

Your grandma was an awesome person. I got excited and teary see the picture of her on the camel. What a beautiful person she was, and always such an advocate for influencing and teacher those around her in such a gentle loving way. She was a beautiful woman and blessed many lives.

I knew Martha and her family during the summer of 1969 when I served as a missionary in Rolla, Missouri with my companion, Elder Alan Grose. Most Mondays (our preparation day) we would go out to the Proctor home and spend some time. Martha was always very hospitable, as were all the members of the Rolla ward. It was in the home of the Law family (Bro. Law taught Russian at the university) that I watched the Apollo 11 moon landing in July, 1969. I recall that Bishop Proctor was there as well, and he impressed me with his comment about the soil on the moon sloping differently than the soil on the earth.

This is a lovely tribute to your grandmother as well as a reminder of how to make one's life beautiful! Having met two of her sons and their wives, I'd say she did a good job of passing her attitudes on to her posterity. Well done, Sister Proctor!

Marlene and I had to the distinct honor of serving with them in the Madrid Temple (She and Royce lived the apartment next door). She was a delight to serve with and always was offering her advice on matters of health, proper nutrition and caring for us when we became ill with colds, etc. My wife had injured her knee and could barely walk and Martha would come over and rub essential oils and massage her muscles to restore her joint function. She was truly an inspiration and blessing to us and helped us weather some tough times that otherwise might have caused us to come home early from our two-year mission. Her memory will be with us until we can reunite in heaven. Neil and Marlene
