In answer to Viola: " In other words, good people whose prayers aren't answered as they hope don't measure up?" I don't think the author's intent was to convey that meaning. What I got from it was that God works on his own time, and sometimes, no matter how good we are, God does not grant what we have prayed for, and will reveal to us somewhere down the road why He did not honor our request (which will reveal why his decision was better for us than what we initially asked for).

Viola, Remember, There are two preliminary requirements. First, what we ask for must be right, what is right for us what is right or Gods plan for us. Second, we must be right

I'm not sure I understand. It seems like you are saying that the only reason we might not get something that is a righteous desire is because we are not right. In other words, good people whose prayers aren't answered as they hope don't measure up? This goes against the idea that God has a plan for us, that he knows what is best for us, and that he allows us to struggle in order to learn and grow. Too many prophets have suffered illness, family problems, and other difficulties for me to believe that good people will always get what they want in the end (as long as it's righteous.)

" . . .it is counted evil unto a man, IF HE SHALL PRAY AND NOT WITH REAL INTENT OF HEART; yea, and it profiteth him nothing, for God receiveth none such." Moroni 7:9 ". . .and if YE SHALL ASK WITH A SINCERE HEART, WITH REAL INTENT, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." Moroni 10:4 How often our prayers are out of duty or desire - void of sincerity and real intent of the heart. Thank you for your fine comments.
