A number of years ago, our family had a toy poodle as a family pet. She often took it upon herself to remedy the situation if she sensed one of us was feeling down. One night it was my turn to say family prayer. She perched on my mom's bed as we all knelt around it. She saw me with my head down and speaking in a low voice, and she figured that could only mean one thing: I needed cheering up, and she took it upon herself to remedy the situation!
