Zak, I agree completely with Brad's comments. Also, Elizabeth Smart does not need to prove or "show who she really is." Anyone paying attention knows she is a remarkable woman who has survived a hellish ordeal with grace and strength.

Zac may want to read more about what Ms. Barzee did to the child Elizabeth was. She was a willing, active participant in the torture of an innocent child. She has shown no remorse nor desire to change. Letting her out may put her in a position to do this again. How anyone can judge someone who went through the kind of horror Elizabeth endured is beyond my comprehension. And that kind of experience leaves a permanent effect. Besides, wanting to keep someone like this from harming someone else is not a sign of not forgiving. It is a sign of common sense and caring for others.

Zac, I don’t think you, or I, or anyone, are qualified to comment on what we think Elizabeth needs to do. Unless, of course, you happened to be kidnapped and raped daily for months on end...... Then we can count an opinion on the matter as being valid. Till then, let’s keep our opinions regarding forgiveness to ourselves.

Why does federal prison time count toward state prison time? Her federal prison time was for violation of federal law. Her state prison time was for violation of state law. If I broke Company A's rules and Company A fined me, and if I also broke Company B's rules and Company B fined me, I seriously doubt that Company B would allow me to deduct my Company A fine from their fine.

I believe Elizabeth needs to find forgiveness in her heart. I know it is easy for me to say not having been in her shoes, but with all she has preached in the last several years the face she puts on now will show who she really is. In an odd, sick way her ordeal has brought her fame and fortune. I feel sorry for Ms. Barzee, 72 years old, probably has been taken advantage of by evil men most of her life. She is now free, to do what?
