Amen! This is why so many parents have taken to homeschooling! I love the book "In Their Own Way" by Thomas Armstrong where he explores the different ways that children learn. When we understand how each child learns, we can teach them in their own way!! I'm going to get this Dr. Seuss book. Such a gift to leave behind for parents, children and educators!!

We had a child that was slow learning how to walk. One day he suddenly decided to walk and did so with a minimum of bumps. As his teachers we failed in our efforts to instill in him the desire to walk. From this I've concluded that none of us learn until we want to learn. And this is where the teacher is critical. If the teacher (with much help from the home) doesn't incentivise the child to the opportunity of learning then the child is handicapped. So if the teacher (and parents) is the key to learning process then we should incentivise them. Therefore I would suggest that we turn that multimillion dollar auditorium (that padded the architects wallet) with its plush seats and is seldom used into classrooms to reduce pupil/teacher ratio, and give them a raise if they will give up the security of never being fired.
