Are you ready to get ghosted this month? I have two recommendations for you that both feature “ghosts” and one that is a book you’ll want to gift yourself this fall.

The first one is The Spy Who Ghosted Me by Jennifer Peel. Sabrina fell deeply in love with Cash Denton when she was in France three years ago, but he disappeared into thin air. She’s had a hard time forgetting about him, and is shocked to see him in an airport, heading to her family’s resort. Cash tries to explain what happened when he’d left her in France, then finally admits he’s a spy who is trying to save her sister’s life. But can she trust him? Or will he abandon her again?
This romantic comedy with a dash of suspense will make you laugh and sigh and hope for a happily-ever-after. Sabrina is a girl-next-door who believes in love, even though her heart has been broken. Cash is her kryptonite, the one man she gave her heart to and never really got it back. He’s a damaged man who’s led a solitary life as a spy, but who may be ready for an actual relationship. The only problem is, his job is full of danger and he would never want Sabrina to get hurt because of him.
The author does a wonderful job of painting the scene at a beautiful resort, with descriptions that help the reader smell the campfires and roasting marshmallows. Sabrina is very relatable as she tries to connect with her sister, worries about her parents, and doesn’t know what to do with all her mixed-up feelings for a man who may or may not really care for her. Cash is a sympathetic hero who has dealt with a lot in his life, going from a solitary childhood and wondering if love is even real, to hoping he can prove himself to Sabrina and earn a place in her life. If only there wasn’t a dangerous criminal infiltrating Sabrina’s family! The secondary cast that surrounds our hero and heroine is memorable, especially Sabrina’s best friend and mentor. There are plenty of thrills in this story and readers will enjoy the tender moments, the character growth, and an unexpected ending in this “ghostly” romance.
The Spy Who Ghosted Me by Jennifer Peel, 274 pages, available in ebook and paperback.

My second recommendation is Billionaire Ghost Tour by Stephanie Fowers. When Mollie meets Janson, he comes across as an arrogant rich guy that she doesn’t want to get to know better, so when she wins a date with him at a bachelor auction, she gives it to someone else. Janson is disappointed and seeks her out months later, on one of her ghost tours. Mollie loves the spooky history of her small town and agrees to take Janson on the ghost tour, but they get the surprise of their lives when someone tries to kidnap him for ransom. Mollie is going to have to use every skill she has to scare off their attackers before they end up as dead as the people who star in her “ghost” tour.
This book starts off at a chaotic pace and doesn’t slow down. Mollie is well-known and loved in her town and her connections help make her more three-dimensional. Janson has some secrets he’s keeping that make everything he is facing with Mollie more difficult when they are revealed. Though this book is a standalone story, it is part of a series and readers might be able to understand some friendships and characters better if they’ve read the previous books. The author does a great job with keeping this action-packed story moving and before you know it, you’ve turned the last page. Perfect for a quick afternoon read.
Billionaire Ghost Tour by Stephanie Fowers, 144 pages, available in ebook, paperback, and audio.

The last book I wanted to recommend this month was, Most Requested Copycat Dishes.” This is an amazing recipe book that features food from most of my favorite restaurants. I love the tomato basil soup from Café Zupas, Cookies from Swig, and Oriental Chicken Salad from Applebee’s and I can now make all of those dishes at home thanks to this new book.
They have copycat recipes for restaurants like Olive Garden, Subway, Arby’s McDonalds, Disneyland, Cubby’s, Red Robin, and Subway, to mention a few. The directions are easy to follow for even a beginning cook and the pictures do every dish justice. I wondered if it would really taste like the restaurant made the recipe, and it absolutely did!
If you love restaurant food, but want to save your money, get this book and make all that yummy food from the comfort of your own home!
Most Requested Copycat Dishes, published by Shadow Mountain Publishing, 240 pages, available in ebook and paperback.
