Faith means not having a perfect knowledge of things, and acting as if something is true, which we choose to believe in order to gain experience in it (see Alma's speech in Alma chapter 32). As we gain experience in it, we sooner or later come to a knowledge of its truth or falsehood. There are some truths that simply cannot become part of our knowledge in any other way.
