This week marks 20 years since the shocking events of September 11 that changed the United States forever. In remembrance of that event, The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square are presenting a 30-minute Music & the Spoken Word special: “9/11 | COMING TOGETHER”.
The performance celebrates the compassion, caring, heroism, and unity that were brought to the surface by this devastating tragedy. It was a day that rocked the country and the world, but also caused people to step up and reach out to each other in ways they hadn’t thought to before.
Rising above the tragedy of that day meant coming together. Our country is deeply divided on so many issues now, but it is worth remembering the legacy we have as citizens who have such capacity to unify when times are difficult. This performance will be a reminder of that capacity.
The special “9/11 | COMING TOGETHER” will be streamed on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 8:46 a.m. MDT, the precise time of the first plane crash into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. An encore airing of the special will take place on Sunday, September 12, at 9:30 a.m. MDT on the Choir’s weekly Music & the Spoken Word broadcast.
Featured music will include “Wayfaring Stranger,” “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” “Angels Among Us” (featuring Broadway singer Kristin Chenoweth), “You Raise Me Up,” “One Person,” “Peace Like a River,” and “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”
The special will be available to view on The Choir’s YouTube channel, Facebook, The Tabernacle Choir website, as well as Broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org and the BYUtv Mobile App.
