As we study the New Testament this year, we get to explore the book of Revelation.

Revelation is, in the words of Elder Bruce R. McConkie, “the most misunderstood of all scriptural accounts,” but is also the most important book of the New Testament  for “perfecting our knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom.”

In a new podcast, The Bright and Morning Star: Finding Christ in the Book of Revelation, Dr. Breck England examines Revelation through the lens of the temple and the teachings of modern prophets.

Latter-day Saints have a unique take on the book of Revelation. It can’t be fully understood outside the ordinances of the temple. The temple drama—of both ancient and latter days—casts a flood of light on the puzzling symbols and events in Revelation. We’ll find that Revelation contains the entire plan of salvation, from the premortal council in heaven through the tribulations of mortality to the resurrection and sealing of bride and bridegroom.

The purpose of the book of Revelation is to help us follow Christ. Our podcast aims to help readers of Revelation follow that Morning Star in all His glory, as He triumphs over every enemy to save and exalt us.

Dr. Breck England has contributed Gospel Doctrine and Come Follow Me lessons as a Meridian Magazine columnist for the last 20 years. He has taught religion at BYU and served as a member of the Church curriculum committee. Our host, Sam Bracken, is a veteran podcaster, founder of the Orange Duffel Bag Foundation, and a convert to the Church.
