SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will offer the keynote address at the 15th annual conference titled Stronger Together: Uniting to Overcome Pornography on Saturday, March 12, in the Salt Palace Convention Center.
Sponsored by the Utah Coalition Against Pornography, the conference will include sessions on recovery, teaching children and teens about the harms of pornography, and the impact of pornography on society. In addition, local organization will sponsor resource booths on technology, recovery, education, community action, and prevention.
The event — the largest conference in the world of its kind — is designed to help leaders and families feel more confident and effective in teaching others to live free from pornography by providing solutions.
Ernie Allen, Principal of Allen Global Consulting LLC and Former President and CEO of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, will discuss how Internet pornography is targeting the young and what we can do to protect our children.
Traylor and Melody Lovvorn will share their own story of how pornography and sexual addiction ripped their family apart and ended their marriage. After 6 years of divorce they were reconciled and remarried. Today they work to help others find healing and wholeness.
Pamela Atkinson, chair of the Utah Coalition Against Pornography, said statistics show a growing amount of hard-core pornography and its negative impact on society.
Vauna Davis, UCAP Executive Director, said pornography is a critical public health issue that cannot be ignored. “Why do we think it is harder to talk about pornography than live with the consequences of not talking?” The UCAP Conference is a safe, hopeful place to learn to start talking and create change on this issue.
