The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Elko Nevada and Grand Junction Colorado Temples.

Elko Nevada Temple

A media day for the Elko Nevada Temple will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, and invited guests will tour the temple on Thursday, August 28, and Friday, August 29, 2025. A public open house will run from Saturday, August 30, to Saturday, September 13, 2025, excluding Sundays.

Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple on Sunday, October 12, 2025. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the temple district.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced this temple during the April 2021 general conference.

“Temples are a vital part of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness,” he said then. “Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way.”

Operating temples in Nevada include the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, dedicated in 1989, and the Reno Nevada Temple, dedicated in 2000. The Lone Mountain Nevada Temple was announced in October 2022.

In the late 1920s, many Latter-day Saints moved from Utah to Nevada in search of better economic conditions. The Las Vegas stake was created in 1954. Church members also moved to northern Nevada, particularly Elko and Ely.

Today, the state is home to more than 180,000 Latter-day Saints in over 340 congregations.

Grand Junction Colorado Temple

A media day for the Grand Junction Colorado Temple will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, and invited guests will tour the temple on Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10, 2025. A public open house will run from Thursday, September 11, to Saturday, September 27, 2025, excluding Sundays.
