Within the next two weeks, 12 temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be changing phases of operations, with six temples moving Feb. 15 to performing all living ordinances allowed in Phase 2 and another six temples moving Feb. 22 to all living and proxy ordinances in Phase 3.
The status changes are the latest as the Church continues to reopen temples in its careful and cautious four-phased process, after halting operations at all temples worldwide in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Feb. 22, the following temples will move to Phase 3, offering proxy ordinances for the first time since the pandemic closures:
- Guatemala City Guatemala Temple
- Halifax Nova Scotia Temple
- Mérida Mexico Temple
- Oaxaca Mexico Temple
- Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple
- Sydney Australia Temple
Effective Feb. 15, three temples will be moving to Phase 2 from Phase 1, offering all living ordinances for the first time in nearly a year:
- Palmyra New York Temple
- Rome Italy Temple
- San José Costa Rica Temple
