President Russell M. Nelson announced the Jacksonville Florida Temple in October 2023.

“The ordinances and covenants of the temple are of eternal significance,” he said then. “We continue to build more temples to make these sacred possibilities become a reality in each of your lives.”

Florida is home to nearly 180,000 Latter-day Saints in around 280 congregations. This will be the fifth house of the Lord in the state. Dedicated temples are in Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee. The Orlando Florida Temple is currently under renovation, and construction of the Tampa Florida Temple began earlier this year.

As previously announced, the 29,000-square-foot Jacksonville Florida Temple will be constructed on a 6.6-acre site located at 3323 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, Florida.
