The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the groundbreaking date for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. The ceremony will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022. Elder Valeri V. Cordón, a General Authority Seventy and first counselor in the North America West Area Presidency, will preside at the event.
Attendance at the site will be by invitation only. Additional details will be provided as the event date approaches.
The temple will be built on a 10.5-acre site located at the intersection of International Boulevard and Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, a suburb of Eugene, Oregon. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. The temple will serve more than 30,000 Latter-day Saints.
The temple was first announced during the April 2021 general conference by Church President Russell M. Nelson.
