Geraldo Alckmin, vice president of the Republic of Brazil, was hosted at the Brasília Brazil Temple by Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, together with Elder Joni Koch, the Church’s Brazil Area President. The vice president arrived on Wednesday morning, August 9, accompanied by eight other members of the federal government.

Elder Soares led the guests through the interior of the temple, explaining the ceremonies that take place in the various rooms of this sacred edifice, among them the sealing that joins families together for all eternity. Upon hearing of this teaching, Geraldo Alckmin remembered with emotion his own father, Geraldo Jose Rodrigues Alckmin. “My father’s eyes always shone when he spoke with our family about eternity,” he said.
