When I first heard the announcement, I thought it was an early April Fool's joke, but then I saw reports on several outlets. I have been a teacher in every organization except Elders Quorum. I welcome this change. For years, even prior to "Come, Follow Me," students were encouraged to study the lessons or Conference talks in advance of Sunday meetings. In my observation, this rarely happened, and many people still come expecting the teacher to do all the work. The advent of CFM, and especially during the Pandemic, made it even more appropriate that we take advantage of our at-home-church-supported gospel study. About a month ago our stake instructed each ward to put out a weekly email bulletin with not only Sunday schedules, but a full list of upcoming calendar information, contact information, and more. Granted, there are some who are not comfortable with electronic devices, but with printed manuals and Church magazines, very few should come to class unprepared. Teachers will probably have to confine their lessons to just a few meaningful points. I also see this as a plus as more callings are extended to fill additional teaching spots. We will need to keep chatter and announcements to a minimum and change rooms quickly as needed, especially assisting any brothers or sisters with special needs or visitors.
