Thank you for this analysis. I just finished reading Nehemiah and was...disappointed. Over the years, I heard many sermons regarding Nehemiah's faith, so I was looking forward to gleaning much from this book; however, I was crushed at how despite Nehemiah's faith, the struggle was difficult and his people continually messed up. Needless to say, reading this left me feeling as if nothing we do is really ever going to matter. Your insight did not disprove this theory, but you did highlight some. important lessons nonetheless.

It's always amazing when we get past the story and see the principles embedded in the story. The story catches our attention and helps us to remember, but the heart of the message is in the timeless principles. Thank you for a fine article.
