When my wife and I were married, she was an attorney for the US Treasury Dept, GS-15. A couple years later we had a son. She quit work, they thought her nuts. Five years later she said something to me most interesting, "it's easier to work than to have children, but working for pay as not as near fulfilling as having children, doesn't come close." We now have two sons, one on a mission and the other about to, both Eagle Scouts (her fault). She's an great MOM.
