This is just some idiot trying to get attention. The really funny thing is that there are no big scary secrets in the LDS church. Just a bunch of board people outside the church trying to entertain themselves. GET A LIFE!

How many times was The Prophet Joseph Smith, or other Prophets brought to court on ridiculous charges? I think we should hold a day of fasting and prayer for these 2 wayward brothers and for those who govern judgement of these laws. Maybe not probable but still possible for this to set a precedence that will echo throughout the world. The world is upside down.

WhitFebruary 24, 2014

Or do they, Char? How would we know, if it was forbidden to talk about them?

"Did someone hold a gun to his head to pay the tithe?" You dont need a gun. Bernie Madoff did not use a gun or any means of force to commit his fraud. This should be an interesting case. First, he'll need to prove what is in Pres Monson's heart (very difficult to do) and second, would have to prove Pres Monson said those things (other members or leaders may have and even then probably giving a disclaimer). Many of the claims are not official positions of the LDS Church so no doubt, IMHO, this case will go no where.

Thanks for explaining all this so well.

I looked into his previous callings, all I could find is that it says he's had his "second anointing." What is a second anointing, I've never heard of such a thing? Surely that proves he's a fraud! Our church doesn't have such unfair ordinances.

You'd think some people would have a life, and have better things to do with their short time here upon the earth.

MelanieFebruary 20, 2014

Thanks for explaining this so clearly..

This, as the British would explain, is a jolly slippery slope. We are looking at precedents and bench marks and a can of worms beyond belief. The powers that be will be running for cover here

Thanks for the information. Sounds like the early days of the church.

What??? Bloor and Ralph must be smoking something illegal (or even legal!) - or be from way down under (and I don't mean Australia!)

Linda BarwickFebruary 19, 2014

This foolish man. Did someone hold a gun to his head to pay the tithe? Paying tithing is a matter of choice. You do not have to pay if you don't want to. No difference than sending a contribution to help a political party to someone who wants to help the country. Choice....

I read the article about this last week. I wonder if his claims to all of the high positions he held in the church are correct, and if that would be considered if it ever did come to a court.

boring...but I have to say the world will find it interesting...I have noticed Romney speaking up lately..so who knows..the devil is afraid of mormons..these men want notariaty..otherwise they would do this in private..they want to discredit the church..what they dont realize is...its in the bible..to pay a 10th of your earnings..its not our church saying that ..its already there...so they do have ulterior motives and probably to get back at the church...they are filled with devilry...

Evil men have always tried to silence the truth by targeting the Prophets in every age. They fight not only against the church but against God, and their consciences burn within them as a fire of torment because of their guilt. Rather than repent, they fight the source of their relief that would bring them peace, just as Satan has for a millennia! Yet such opposition is always turned to good by the Lord. in this case, we can expect to see a greater awareness, compassion and interest in the Church of Jesus Christ and our living Prophet. Such renewal of interest created by a shocking attack from opponents usually lead to open hearts, open doors and new converts that gain a testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ in these latter-days. Seeing a former member persecute the Prophet and antagonize the church is always shocking and sad, but the end result is what the Lord has always intended, the salvation of his children.

Tom Phillips and his buddies call their website "Mormon Think". The phrase "what were these guys thinking?" comes to mind when pondering this whole frivolous lawsuit.

sueFebruary 19, 2014

I read about this case several weeks ago and the first question that came to my mind was whether or not the man had held all of the church positions that he claimed to have held. I wonder if that would be questioned if it did come to court. I really thought the entire matter was ridiculous..
