Truthful, sincere language given at such an important gathering must have touched hearts. My heart was touched. Thank you Brother Lee.

I thank Sen. Lee for preparing an organized, touching, and enlightening talk. How many years has he believed, obeyed, sacrificed, and prepared for this wonderful opportunity to affirm, comfort, and teach to so many! Thank you Meridian for making this transcript available.

This address is simply wonderful! Did you know this congressman was the son of BYU president Rex Lee?

Sen. Lee reminded me of the story of a young girl sitting in her living room looking out the bay window at the downpoor. Her father put down his newspaper and ask her what she was doing. "I'm praying that Heavenly Father will make it stop raining so I can go out and play.' The father replied, "It looks like God didn't her you." She responded, "Oh He heard me, he said 'No'. I think this illustrates one of the points that Sen. Lee made in his address. Another man once said, "If God wanted to punish us, he would give us everything that we prayed for. Prayer is the souls sincere desire. Thank you Sen. Lee for reminding us.

Liberty and peace. A gift from our creator when we live with in the parameters of his laws. Its nice to know we still have national prayer.

We believe in prayer; we have studied it and practiced it our entire lives, and yet Senator Lee gave us new insights we had not considered. Thank you for teaching and inspiring us. We pray that those present add a new urgency and sincerity to their prayers for our nation.

I read this with my eyes overflowing. What Sen Lee says describes perfectly what prayer means to me.

This is most Excellent! Sen. Mike Lee's father Rex went with my father, Corwin Ellsworth to Valley Forge and kept my father from being hit by a taxi cab on the corner as he began to step off. I am sure that was an answer to his mother's prayer for her son's safety while he was away. Thank you for this beautiful witness of prayer.

Very inspirational. Has made me think. I try to "Pray always" and I know (have faith) He answers all my prayers. I'm afraid though I'm not diligent enough in seeking out and understanding just what his answers are. Also I fear my prayers are not enough seeking out his will but too much in seeking help to implement my own will.

A lot of people gained a better insight as to what we Mormons are about; and, our close, personal relationships with Heavenly Father and Jesus.
Robert WilliamsFebruary 8, 2014
Wow. He gave this in front of Obama, Jewish and Muslim leaders. One wonders what they thought of it.

Great story. I am more appreciative and hopeful today. Regardless of circumstances, I am satisfied that the world is a far safer place when people of common hope and courage are permitted and willing to so gather freely and pray openly.

If only the world would listen and adhere to these understandings, all would find greater joy thru the power of prayer and thereby give honor to our Father in heaven. Life has the potential to be a happy, satisfying and even a celestial place if we will exercise humility thru ernest prayer. Thank you for your insight Senator Lee.

This was such a sweet and humble address to the people in attendance. I pray it turns others to prayer. Thank you for giving it to us to read on Meridian Magazine.

Sen. Lee's talk on prayer should be read by all praying people but most especially by those that do not and try to legislate against our God given right to pray individually, as families, as a nation and as a world. Thank you Sen Lee!!

Mike Lee grew up in our neighborhood. Now he is sharing what he is learning. We can all learn more about prayer from Senator Lee's examples. We need leadership like his even more these days.
Carol HansenFebruary 7, 2014
Clearly written and illustrated with "parables" to open hearts---ourselves, families and nation---to the need for sincere prayer.
Catherine CooperFebruary 7, 2014
Senator Lee's excellent comments on prayer.
Cindy HuffakerFebruary 7, 2014
I loved this speech by Senator Lee - it spells out the essence of what prayer is - for even Christ, prayer mean that His Father heard Him.
JoanFebruary 7, 2014
This is a man who is not afraid to acknowlege his Heavenly Father and his communication with him, "before members of congress, people from 50 states and 100 nations, and Pres. of the United States". More leaders need to be driven to their knees for the answers, and to say "thy will be done"
LaNitaFebruary 7, 2014
Awesome! I didn't realize Rex Lee was Mike's father. Now I love him even more! Such a beautiful speech. He definitely knows what he's talking about!
TimothyFebruary 7, 2014
I thoroughly enjoyed this discourse. I honestly feel gained more understanding and discipline for prayer from this article. I would hope that those in attendance at the National Prayer Breakfast felt the same.
KateFebruary 7, 2014
It simply thrills me to know that glorious truth was communicated to the our political leaders, for "Heaven" knows, they need that which they heard from Senator Lee. And many thanks to Meridian for making his speech available to us who are willing to take the time to read it. I feel edified, enriched and inspired...and so thankful for prayer.
Farol LombFebruary 7, 2014
This was an outstanding address--both inspirational and educational. I appreciate Mr. Lee and those that continue to serve our nation with their faith.
gbeckesFebruary 7, 2014
Wow... to be shared.

What an inspiration to have such a heartfelt prayer given in a nation that seems to struggling with forces that want to remove prayer and religion from our blessed land. I pray that we might have more persons in congress like Sen Lee to keep us on the straight and narrow path!
David HallFebruary 7, 2014
Amazing insights from a man who clearly lives the religion he professes. Very refreshing to hear from a political leader.
